Though not very well known for the property lemon juice is very helpful in cleansing the liver. Liver is a vital organ of our body and is responsible for detoxifying the toxins off the body. Failure of the liver can result in very serious consequences. It is often said that consumption of excessive alcohol can bear severe damages to the liver. A healthy functional liver indicates that all harmful substances that enter the body are excreted off. Any individual who wishes to detoxify the body will have to focus on the liver first as liver is the organ that is going to detoxify the body in actual.

Lemons are not really liked and appreciated as a food or even as a fruit. People are known to not sit with a lemon and knife in hand to eat it. It is not even enjoyed as an apple or an orange. The most people would do with a lemon is to sprinkle it over salad, use it with alcohol beverage or the most enjoy it in form of lemonade where sugar is used to cover the bitter sour taste of the lemon. Keeping aside the general likeness lemons are very beneficial fruit gifted to us by nature.

Lemons are acidic to taste and it may be the biggest reason for its unpopularity but the amazing fact is that its effects are alkalizing. Alkalizing and acidic foods are known by the effects they have on the body after the digestion process. Some other acidic substances like apple cider vinegar along with lemons have an overall alkalizing effect on the body which is normally considered very beneficial for the body. By the term usually it is meant that normally the pattern of food consumption that is followed nowadays is itself very acidic and so lemon has an alkalizing effect on the body but if you are someone who practice Spartan pattern of foods that is consuming raw foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, since your diet is not acidic in this case lemon will act as acidic for you but since that is normally not the case lemons are vital for the cleansing of our body.

Consuming lemons can be possible through many ways, assuming that you don’t want to eat them whole you can have them in form of lemon teas. Already prepared lemon teas are also available in the market but it is always better to opt for natural lemon in it or through squeezing fresh lemon juice on your herbal teas. Drinking lots of water is also very essential for detoxification. Generally it is said that you need to consume 8 glasses of water every day and if you add in a slice of lemon or squeeze in some fresh lemon juice the detox effect will double itself. You can however also opt for squeezing lemon juice in your salads.

Though previously the power of lemon has been underestimated but it should be known that lemon is very helpful; in cleansing the liver as well as the body off the toxins. It has been proved that lemon is a very beneficial fruit gifted by nature.
