How To Detox Your Kidney
Your kidneys are essential for your life and health. One of the major functions of the kidneys and liver is to clear from your body the poisons accumulated there from pollutants that you take in. There is much much more that the kidneys and liver do, but this may be the most important job they have.
The cleansing process that the liver and kidneys complete is not perfect. There are so many toxins in today’s environment from the smoggy air we breathe, second hand cigarette smoke, and chemicals in our personal products such as soaps, shampoos and deodorants. On top of all this, there are often problems with our eating habits. Junk food, fried and preservative-filled, brings in more toxins that do not belong in the body and build up in your system. The liver and kidneys cannot keep up on their own. To help them out you may need to detox.
The simplest way to do this is:
Step 1: Eliminate, for about one week prior to beginning your cleanse or detox, all junk food, alcoholic beverage and sugar from your diet. If you falter in your resolve and the junk food cravings are almost too much, remember you will be done with your detox (and feeling better than ever) in just 2 weeks. Break up you eating into small meals eaten several times each day. Don’t load up on food at the end of the day, especially the day before starting the detox.
Step 2: Begin your inner body cleanse with a liquid detox. Try to schedule this day on a Saturday or other non-work day when you don’t have a lot of responsibilities. You will drink lots of water, some tea and natural fruit juice only, for 1 entire 24 hour day. The fruit juice should be taken only if you are feeling big hunger pangs.
Step 3: Day 2 should consist of only veggies and fruit with no preservatives or chemicals used in their growth. You may add natural, preservative-free muesli or granola. Drink lots of water, and water only, on this day.
Step 4: Day 3 will find you switching to meals with lots of protein and vitamins. Whole grains and natural egg whites, pinto beans and baked fish. Whole grains can include quinoa or millet. Today you can drink green tea or natural fresh juice and plenty of water of course.
Step 5: Continue the detox by switching from step 3 to 4 and back again, until one week has passed. At this point you can gradually re-add more ‘normal’ foods to your meals. Now that you have avoided them for 2 weeks, try not to go back to the fried foods and steer your diet toward preservative-free organic meals.
