Body Detoxification and Why It’s Important

There are so many varieties of detoxification available that it is easy to choose one that does not suit you and leave your with a bad impression of detox. It is always advisable if you’ve never done a detox, to start with something that is not to hard to follow and not too strenuous on your body.

Detox is important to your health as detox methods assists your liver in the elimination of toxins in your body. Toxins enter our bodies when we eat processes and refined foods with very little or no nutritional value, when we eat foods containing preservatives or when we smoke cigarette and drink too much alcohol. By cutting out the carbohydrates, alcohol and cigarettes, you are already reducing the amount of toxins that build up in your body.

Once you’ve made these changes, add plenty of raw vegetables and fruit to your diet. Remember to include protein from chicken or fish and high fibre foods like beans and lentils. Fibre helps to clean your colon and increases the absorption of vitamins and minerals. You can aid your liver by drinking herbal teas that will help the cleansing of your liver, making it a far better toxin eliminating machine.

Add plenty of water
to your diet. Water helps to flood your system and removes the unwanted toxins out through your kidneys and bladder. Not drinking enough water leads to dehydration and exhaustion.

Once you start feeling healthier and more energized, you can try to exclude all foods and try a liquid diet only. This will include fresh fruit juice, water and herbal teas. By doing this for a day or two, you won’t only loose some unwanted weight, but also hasten your cleansing process. Once you have finished your detox diet, try to make small lifestyle changes by avoiding bad habits and unhealthy foods that will only put the toxins back into your body.

Try to take part in some sort of exercise as this is another important step in your detox programme. Your sweat glands help to remove toxins through your skin and therefore you should exercise regularly or try to sit in a sauna or steam bath as often as possible.

Search the internet for detox recipes and information to help you understand more about your body and the effects and benefits of a detox method. Remember to ask your doctor for advice and drink plenty of water.
