Body Detox Diet
A regular detoxification of toxins from your body is essential for good health. The way the Western world lives and eats have become more of a health risk than eating to survive.
A detox diet involves anything from lifestyle changes to three day liquid diets on herbal teas or water. Many strenuous diets can be even more detrimental to your health than regular eating so it is important to choose one that will have you gradually shedding kilograms and cleanse your body over a period of time.
During a detox diet your body is changed from a fat storing machine to a fat burning machine with the added benefit that toxins are fast and effectively removed from your system. Many of the health problems we face today are directly related to the toxins that enter our bodies which our liver cannot cope with. With a detox diet of three to ten days, you clear your body of unwanted toxins and reduce your risk of illness and disease.
Start your diet by avoiding all type of carbohydrates and refined foods. Avoid potatoes, bread, cakes and any type of sugar. This will force your body to burn fat already stored and release the storage of toxins into your bloodstream. By eating fresh and raw vegetables where possible and plenty of fruit and fresh water, you can assist your body and liver in washing the toxins from your system. Try to avoid eating canned and processed food as these all contain preservatives that are harmful to your body plus most of them have lost their nutritional value through all the processes they have gone through. Fresh and raw vegetables and plenty of fibre like beans, helps to cleanse your colon, making the absorption of nutrients more efficient.
Exercising regularly will also help your detox as the skin is another organ that helps in your cleansing process. Toxins are released from your body through your sweat glands and skin. Regular exercise, sauna and steam baths will increase your energy levels and leave your skin healthy and glowing.
It is very important to continue a healthy lifestyle after your detox. This will prevent the build up of more toxins in your body. Avoid using unnecessary medication, too much alcohol, caffeine and smoking as all of these add toxins to your body. Remember to rather eat to live than to live to eat.
